I have Myki premium and although there is security in locally based storage, (which was what attracted me at first), I now prefer storage in the cloud. In theory the cloud can be hacked. But I have found out that there are some cloud services that are well secured. Not to mention that the antivirus I use protects my email accounts from breach. And I only use the social accounts that I can use a 2FA with. So I am not so much interested in local storage again except for a few items. I have seen people lose their phones and computers and never backed up pictures and documents on any cloud drive and lost them all. Onedrive, Google drive, Samsung cloud and so on are cloud based. What am I going to do save everything I have locally on SD cards and
...Mostra di più external hard drives. Hats off to you who can do that!
2FA
The 2FA seems to be a wonderful feature that Myki has. But can 2FA paired accounts be backed up? I have learnt the hard way that they cant be backed up. RIght now I am locked out of some of my accounts that I have paired with Myki 2FA because the Myki backed up files did not bring back the accounts that were paired with the 2FA. It was was the worst mistake I made. However if I was using Authy 2FA ( which is not stored locally) it would have been easily for me to access my accounts.
I had an experience when Myki with all my accounts was on my desktop and on my phone. But I had to facgory reset my phone desktop and my phone . Whenever attempted to pair my factory reset phone with the Myki account with all the passwords that was on my computer, I lost all the information what was on my computer because when pairing, the information goes from the phone to the computer. That means, whatever information is on the phone will be reflected on the computer and not the other way around in this case.
Therefore, for me, If I want to go cheap I go with Bitwarden and if I want a more expensive yearly subscription I will go with Password Boss ( which is what I use now). I have paid dearly with local storage and even right now I am suffering because I paired my accounts with Myki 2FA. I was able to get back my passwords from a previous file I saved on a thumb drive but not the 2FA.
While Myki is an attractive and functioning password manager, and in theory it is safer than a cloud -based password manager, in practicality I will go with a secure cloud-based. I truly cant be bothered!
